Teen Board and Service Group (LIGHT)

LIGHT otherwise known as Lilian's Interactive Group of Helpful Teens, meets each Tuesday at 3:00 pm when school is in session. This is a group for teens 13-18 years of age, who would like to volunteer their time or need to fulfill 30 hours of community service for their school requirement. A teen involved in this group will help to plan and lead programs and events, advise the library about services for teens by attending the weekly meetings, help out around the library with a variety of tasks, shelving/book labeling/yard work. The teens may also be asked to suggest books, magazines, movies for the library. The first meeting of LIGHT for the 2011-2012 school year will be September 13. To apply complete the application provided at the library and return to Ms. Laura.

Back to School

Just as local students are starting back to school, the library is gearing up for our fall schedule. Our school-year schedule begins on September 12 and offers activities for all ages, including story times, read-to-the dog events, chess club, family activities, our adult book group and more. Watch for postings under “Events” and check with the library to see currently scheduled items and keep your eye open for further events to be added.

Reptile Show (Aug. 6th)

On August 6, Lilian S. Besore Memorial Library hosted a reptile show with Jesse Rothacker of Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary. Our standing-room only crowd enjoyed Jesse’s presentation and lessons about our reptile friends. Opportunity for some hands-on experience was offered following the presentation.
